Noritoshi Hirakawa conceived this exhibition as a means to experience a state of nirvana. More than thirty stainless-steel hangers, specially designed in Japan for drying undergarments, were suspended from the gallery ceiling. During the course of the exhibition, women were invited to anonymously contribute a pair of their underpants (light-colored only), which were then clipped to one of the hangers. As the exhibition progressed, the forest of hangers bloomed into a “garden of nirvana.”
