Grand Street from Crosby to Wooster Streets
Deitch Projects presented The Art Parade, an artist parade that took place Saturday, September 10 at 4pm on Grand Street between Crosby and Wooster. Artists, performers and designers were invited to create floats, placards, spectacles and street performances. This first-of-its-kind extraordinary spectacle included over fifty artists, including Ryan McGinness, Raqib Shaw, Steve Powers, Ted Mineo, Dearraindrop, Kehinde Wiley, As Four, Jeremy Scott and Scissor Sisters. Performers included Dazzle Dancers, The Citizens Band, the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black and many, many more. The parade’s culmination in a block party on Wooster Street completed the riotous orgy of artistic expression.
The Art Parade was produced by Deitch Projects in collaboration with Paper Magazine with the assistance of Creative Time. We hoped that The Art Parade would become an annual event that marked the beginning of the art season and New York Fashion Week.
